The Health Ministry's daily Covid-19 presser turned into a sombre affair today when its director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced it was the last day on the job for one of his deputies, who had been playing a key role in the battle against the pandemic.
Dr Rohaizat Yon, the ministry's deputy director-general (medical), is going into compulsory retirement after 35 years in service.
Meanwhile, today marked the second day in a row where no new transmission of Covid-19 was detected among Malaysians.
As of mid-day today, the Health Ministry recorded only two new Covid-19 cases in which one case involved a Malaysian returning from abroad and another involving a foreigner.
