[KiniNews] Former Umno leader Khairy Jamaluddin has voiced support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim over the latter's presiding of a religious conversion ceremony at a mosque in Klang.

"There's been brouhaha over the issue, with some saying as the prime minister, Anwar has no business participating in religious business.”

"I would like to defend the PM on this. Just because he's the prime minister, he does not stop being a Muslim ," said Khairy.

Khairy added that he even checked with former religious affairs minister Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri, and was told that any Muslim can help with the conversion of someone who likes to embrace Islam.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, Bersatu information committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin said Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin should take responsibility for the coalition’s failure to win Negeri Sembilan in the Aug 12 state elections.

Badrul, who is better known as Chegubard, said this was a result of Muhyiddin’s decision to appoint Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu as Negeri Sembilan PN chairperson, which made it difficult for the coalition to take over the state.
