[KiniNews] Umno may have set its sights on ousting Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister but this does not necessarily mean it wants to dismantle the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, who endorsed Umno's decision to retract its support for Muhyiddin, emphasised that the withdrawal of support was targeted at Muhyiddin and not the PN government.

According to former Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa, it was decided that Umno's 38 MPs will be able to make up their own minds on whether they want to continue supporting the PN government and Muhyiddin.

Meanwhile, Umno’s partners in Barisan Nasional, MCA and MIC, are likely to continue backing PN until the next general election.
