[KiniNews] Malacca Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh has defended Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh's vocal stance on the issue involving socks bearing the word Allah, as it was based on concrete reasons.

According to Rauf, the reaction of Akmal represented the voice of Muslims across the country who are upset about the issue.

The placement of the word Allah on socks has hurt the feelings of Malaysian Muslims. We should respect each other's religions, he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, police will not hesitate to take action against vigilante groups who take matters into their own hands in the issue of socks bearing the word Allah, warns Bukit Aman.

Its Criminal Investigation Department director Shuhaily Mohd Zain said members of the public should leave it to the police to enforce the law.
