The magazine’s “YOUth” issue hits newsstands on April 12th, focusing on rising social media and Internet stars, so who better to feature on the cover than Kylie Jenner right?
But there was a lot of speculation as to what the mag was trying to tell us with that overly photo shopped Insta pic. A lot of people thought that they were trying to say social media is an illusion, only showing off the best, because what you see is not always what you get.
But now PAPER is setting the record straight. Editorial Director, Mickey Boardman, said QUOTE: “The YOUth issue is all about highlighting the young, fun, and bright creative of today and Kylie was the obvious choice.”
He went on to explain that they had these crazy plastic wigs that looked helmet-like and wanted to pair it with an extremely bright wardrobe. He said that Kylie looked so cartoon that they thought it would be amazing to exaggerate and blur the lines of what’s real and fake.
Kylie took to Instagram giving us more behind the scenes of what to expect in the upcoming issue. The colorful spread will feature multiple photos of Kylie in vibrant outfits as she shows off her toned bod. In one she’s even wearing a floral body suit, looking ah-mazing as always. Kylie also trades in that pink, plastic wig from the cover for a fierce red one as she wears a velvet pink one-piece and shows off her booty. Worrrkk girl, work.
The 18-year old touches on everything from family to fortune in the issue. Telling fans all about when she started realizing she had fans and what it’s like to grow up in the spotlight. In one line she said QUOTE: “I was going to MAC and Sephora and I’d try to buy my lipstick and the girls working were like, ‘Kylie, everyone comes in asking what color you use. Everything’s sold out –I’m sorry.’” She even mentions dreaming of a day when she can be off the radar. But umm, will that day ever happen?!
