Kylie Jenner Lip Kit Controversy: Did She Steal Her Next Shade?

Kylie’s lip line might be the new hot item this season, but some makeup artists are letting their own lips do all the talking as Kylie is under attack for borrowing their bright ideas.
After the sky-high demand for Kylie’s lip kit exceeded projected sales last week when the three lip shades sold out in record time, Kylie and her team seem to be headed in a much brighter direction, as they ditch the matte for metallic.
The official Lip Kit by Kylie Instagram posted a photo of a pair of lips dipped in a metallic rose gold shade, titling the image, “"inspo by @vladamua." The post has since been deleted off of the Instagram page, however, the shiny gold shade was created months ago by makeup artist Vlada Haggerty, who posted the photo to her own Instagram page four months ago.
Vlada spoke out about Kylie using her lip shade for ‘inspiration’ to Mashable, saying, QUOTE, “The second I saw it I my heart dropped with excitement, up until the moment when I realized I wasn't mentioned in any way on the post. Even after they edited the caption it still said 'Inspo @vladamua #likitbylylie,' I have no affiliation with the brand, I didn't give them the permission to use my image. The most frustrating thing about this is that this lip look will be associated with Lip Kit By Kylie, it's very recognizable and now I can't use it for anything else."
The makeup artist has also attempted to spread the news on her own page, when she posted an article from Harper’s Bazaar, who credited Kylie with the new color and not the artists whose photo she was using for inspiration. Vlada wrote that ‘the insanity continues’ and called attention to another artist who originally mixed the metallic hues.
There’s no official word yet on whether or not Kylie will actually be previewing a similar metallic tone, but hey, two heads are better than one, so if these two beauty gurus were to tag-team a shiny new tone, everyone wins and we’re all happy.
