The Putrajaya Magistrate's Court today granted a remand against former Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO) chief Hasanah Abdul Hamid.
The MACC's deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akril Gahrib had requested for a week's remand but magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim only agreed to five days.
Hasanah arrived at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court in handcuffs this morning and was wearing an orange MACC lock-up shirt and purple scarf.
She was arrested by the commission yesterday in relation to an investigation into the disappearance of millions of ringgit intended for the last general election.
Hasanah's lawyer Shaharudin Ali said she had disputed MACC's decision to invoke Section 28A(8) of the Criminal Procedure Code which, among others, suspends her right to communicate with any other persons prior to questioning.
