Lena Dunham has a problem with Justin Bieber’s new song, “What Do You Mean.”
Justin Bieber just premiered his new song on Friday and it’s already getting backlash. Lena Dunham just called out Justin on Twitter for the lyrics to “What Do You Mean.”
Justin Bieber’s comeback tour has hit a speed bump. Lena Dunham has joined in on the conversation about Justin’s new song “What Do You Mean” and the topic of consent. There’s been a lot of talk online about the lyrics to Justin’s new song, and Lena, who is a sexual assault survivor, took to Twitter to voice her opinion.
On Monday, August 31, Lena tweeted “Let's do away with pop songs where a girl nods yes when she means no and vice versa, k?”
Though she doesn’t call out Justin by name, Lena is clearly talking about the lyrics to “What Do You Mean.” One specific part in Justin’s song says QUOTE What do you mean/ When you nod your head yes/ but you wanna say no/ what do you mean? END QUOTE
Justin hasn’t commented on Lena’s tweet, but he did talk about his song during a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest. While on the show, Justin asked Ryan QUOTE Have you ever been in the bedroom and that same thing has happened? She’s like pushing you away and then she like wants to kiss you and then she starts crying and pushes you away? END QUOTE
The lyrics to this song are now under fire, but it doesn’t seem like Lena has any problem with Justin himself. After she sent out the tweet about Justin’s song she posted this Instagram picture with the caption, “How could anyone think I have an issue with Bieber?”
