Lorde was this weekend’s musical guest on SNL where she treated the audience to two performances of her latest releases Green Light and Liability. She kicked it off with Green Light while clearly having the time of her life. Check it out:
Later in the show she switched it up for her second performance singing Liability in an ensemble reminiscent of a wedding gown while sitting back to back with Jack Antonoff as he played the piano.
Lorde previously tweeted about “Liability” saying QUOTE - “Wow feels big and intense having ‘Liability’ out in the world strange part of myself for a lot of people to look at. Good though. PS. Not a single for those asking, just a strange little sister of this album really. but i love it?”
She continued by admitting that “Liability” actually really freaked her out at first saying QUOTE - “This song freaked and grossed me out at first & i remember my synesthesia was really blaring in the session, this swirling combo of high school and recent and private and public memories. Felt like when i walk down the hall kind of drunk at a party and shut myself in a bedroom to mumble something happy or sad into my phone.”
Well I for one am happy she took the risk because “Liability” is a great song. Liability and Green Light are the first tracks off of Lorde’s upcoming sophomore album, Melodrama which is scheduled to drop in full on June 16th.
