Lorde performed her latest single “Green Light” at the BBMAs, but it was more like an intimate karaoke session. Lorde sang in a red light room (ironically, not green lit) singing karaoke to her OWN track on a retro TV.
No, we don’t think Lorde actually needed the words on screen but we don’t care because she had the time. Of. Her. Life. Lorde danced her heart out. The singer was feeling her energy so much that at one point she had to rip her restricting denim jacket off.
Later in the creative performance, Lorde took a break and interacted with the three bored strangers lurking in the background- by sitting down next to them. But by the end, Lorde was up on her feet again and jumping all around the tiny room.
In the very last seconds of the performance the camera panned to the audience and we saw Lorde was in fact on the BBMAs stage, not in an old school karaoke bar somewhere in Hollywood. We gotta give props to Lorde for doing something different with her time on stage. And was this a hint- is “Green Light” actually the PERFECT karaoke song?
