The legendary Cher made her first award show performance in FIFTEEN years at the Billboard Music Awards. The true definition of an icon, Cher was at the show to accept the Icon Award from Gwen Stefani. To commemorate the occasion Cher graced us with not ONE but TWO performances that give us all the feels.
Yes, what you saw was first Cher performing “Believe” wearing pink heart pasties and a pink-tipped wig, while doing her classic groovy dancing. Next, Cher performed “Turn Back Time” in a huge wig and leather jacket, and not much else… But Cher doesn’t need to turn back time, because the 71-year-old looks better than EVER. Actually, she looks THE SAME. She just doesn’t seem to age!
The audience in Las Vegas was clearly loving the nostalgic performances, even fellow performer Celine Dion. Backstage in the press room Celine was seen stopping everything to watch Cher perform on the monitors while dancing and singing along!
In Gwen’s Icon Award speech for Cher, she highlighted the trailblazer’s rise to fame and thanked her for QUOTE, “...teaching us how to be true to ourselves.” In her acceptance speech Cher first thanked her Mom who told her as a little girl that she was special.
