Mac Miller’s father is finally opening about the recent arrest in his son’s death.
Hey everyone, it’s Drew Dorsey with Clevver News and more and more people are coming out in support of Mac Miller. The year anniversary of his death was this past weekend, and along with tributes for the late singer, Mac’s family, friends and fans are getting some justice as well.
Last week alleged drug dealer Cameron James Pettit was charged for supplying Mac with deadly fentanyl-laced oxycodone. The pills are rumored to have contributed to the rapper’s death and honestly it’s just too sad to think about.
TMZ broke the story of Mac’s OD on September 7 2018. He was found unresponsive in his San Fernando valley home. He was only 26.
Cameron James Petitt is currently being held without bond right now, which rightfully so, and let’s just say things are not looking good for him.
Court documents even say that Petitt talked to a friend after Mac’s death and told him that he would “most likely die in prison.”
Not exactly the words of an innocent man.
After the arrest news broke, we got some feelers in regards to how ex-Ariana Grande felt and now we are learning how Mac’s OWN family feels.
Mac’s father recently spoke to fans outside of a memorial event for his son at Blue Slide Playground in Pittsburgh.
Mark continued on with his words of wisdom and we are just getting all the feels from this speech.
He went on to say, “Many of us were young including me experimenting with drugs. But it’s a different fucking world out there And all it takes is a little tiny stone of fentanyl and cocaine and you’re dead.”
After explaining some extra risks that today’s drugs have, besides just being bad for you in general, he closed his speech with some advice I think we can all live by.
Mark also chose to remember the positive things about his son during the event. In addition to sharing his feelings on the arrest news, he also spoke highly of the things Mac stood for in his life to encourage others.
Mac’s dad said, “He remained loyalest to his friends. He was always loving and kind to others….
I don’t care if you want to be an artist, you want to be an architect, you want to be a musician, you want to be an accountant … whenever that moment happens, I think we have to go all in on finding the thing that we love to do, that gives us joy in life.”
Ariana Grande reportedly has a similar sentiment to Mac’s dad. The other day we reported on how Ari wanted some justice in Mac’s death. That ANYONE who gave him drugs should be brought in and charged. Sources say with the recent news, she’s feeling some comfort, just like Mac’s family, but knows this whole thing is FAR from over.
Mac himself even commented on overdosing before his death in the documentary “Stopped Making Excuses.”
Mac said of ODing, “I’d rather be the corny white rapper than the drugged-out mess that can’t even get out of his house. Overdosing is just not cool. There’s no legendary romance. You don’t go down in history because you overdosed. You just die.”
That’s just so haunting to hear now, hopefully Mac is looking down on us and feeling some joy in those being charged for his death.
In addition to the arrest, celebs have also been mourning and remembering Mac on the anniversary of his death.
Kid Cudi took to Twitter to simply write:
“Miss u Mac”
Tana Mongeau posted this on her Instagram writing,
“i’ll always hate that we’ll just dedicate this day to missing you publicly and then it’ll just feel like the whole world keeps... moving. there isn’t a second, minute, hour, or day that goes by that i wouldn’t give everything i have just to see you or hear your voice for another minute.... a year ago was the worst day of my life. i’ll spend every day trying to put back the pieces of my heart but i don’t think they’ll ever fit right again.”
At the end of the day, we just hope justice is found for our boy. Losing him still hurts, but with all these tributes and arrests being made, we can also see some sort of light at the end of this tunnel.
Rest in Peace Mac, you are always in our hearts.
