WORST. NEWS. EVER! It brings me great, GREAT sadness to tell you guys – Matthew McConaughey will NOT be returning for the Magic Mike sequel. Can we have a moment of silence, please? OK, now that we’ve broken the news, let’s talk about why the beefcake has opted out of reprising his role of Dallas in the highly anticipated Magic Mike XXL. PS, I dare you to find a better name for a sequel.
The film’s director Gregory Jacobs confirmed the sad news, and actually, an exact reason wasn’t really given. BUT if we had to guess, maybe they couldn’t fit Mr. Alright Alright Alright into the movie’s budget? I mean, is he an OSCAR winner now, so that certainly might have something to do with it. Or it could be the standard “scheduling conflict” actors always seem to run into.
However, Magic Mike XXL’s director assured fans not to worry, as things will be bigger and better this time around. *wink* During an interview with IndieWire he shared some plot details saying:
“It’s a road trip movie and put it this way, it’s different enough that once you see it you’ll understand why we made a sequel. No one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice.”
Channing Tatum also recently spoke about the movie saying that the road trip they’re embarking on has to do with a stripper convention – so get those one dollar bills ready, ya’ll!
Though Matthew won’t be returning, Joe Manganiello will be returning as Big Dick Richie, AND Matt Bomer is getting in on the fun too. As for Alex Pettyfer? His fate of starring in the movie is still unknown, but you know we’ll keep you posted. Side note: Joe recently shared a photo of his prep for the movie, and like we said – bigger and better, you guys!
Mark those calendars because Magic Mike XXL hits theaters on July 1, 2015, just in time for the 4th of July holiday. God bless America! Alright, so who else needs to be cast in this film? Zac Efron? We’ll do it. Ok Henry Cavill. Stop begging. We’ll give you a part, too. Yes, Ryan Gosling, I hear you. Fine. You and your naked body can make a slow motion cameo onscreen. Stop begging everyone.
