The plot details of Magic Mike XXL have FINALLY been revealed – but let’s be real, is anyone actually seeing this movie for the plot?
We kid, we kid. But yes, we’re now getting a deeper look into what the highly-anticipated sequel will hold, and though it’s been teased as a road trip movie, we now know what the actual road trip is all about.
Though there were some rumors about a stripper convention of some kind, the plot reveals it’ll be for one last stripper-filled blow out. Warner Brothers released the official plot synopsis earlier this week, and we’re just going to read you the whole thing because it’s THAT good.
“Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, ‘Magic Mike XXL’ finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.”
YES, YES, and YES. We are SO into this.
In addition to the plot reveal, it was also announced that Donald Glover and Elizabeth Banks will be joining the cast as well. Other new cast members include Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell, Michael Strahan, and Jada Pinkett Smith. PS, we bet you Elizabeth Banks BEGGED for a part in the sequel after the 2012 MTV Movie Awards when she accepted her golden popcorn from Joe Manganiello in a fireman suit. We see you girl. Get yours.
Production for Magic Mike XXL is currently underway and the cast has been sharing little sneak peeks on social media. And for that, we are truly, truly grateful.
