Perak will immediately halt the non-radioactive rare earth element (NR-REE) project if any hazardous health elements are found, assured Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad.
He expressed confidence that the project's processes will not generate hazardous or radioactive materials.
However, if harm arises during extraction or processing, such as from a radioactive source, the state government will not hesitate to terminate the project.
The statement came in response to a question on the state government's approach to handling radioactive materials from the NR-REE project, posed by Keranji state assemblyperson (PH) Koo Haai Yen.
