A minor commotion broke out during a Deepavali event hosted by the Federal Territories Ministry yesterday evening when the underprivileged, particularly senior citizens started to push their way to receive a RM100 cash handout.
The incident happened as "purple packets" were distributed by Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
People started to push each other in their eagerness to collect the cash. Security personnel and enforcement officers struggled to control the melee.
