Kelud Mountain, in Javanese means Sapu or Broom, or Klut, Cloot, Kloet or Kloete in Dutch, is a mountain in Kediri regency, East Java Province.This volcano mountain is still active until present time and it located in border of Kediri and Blitar regency. Like many Indonesian volcanoes and others on the Pacific Ring of Fire, Kelud is known for large explosive eruptions throughout its history. More than 30 eruptions have occurred since 1000 AD.

Currently, Kelud has been phenomenal with the new dome of the lake after the last eruption. To achieve Kelud, the visitors can start the journey from the Wates - Margomulyo - Bambingan to Jurang Gelap or Gunung Pedot. The route from Jurang Gelap until the new dome of Kelud is about 2 km and you can walk by then.

The appearing of Kelud's new dome was occur on the 5th of November 2007 with a diameter of 100 meters and a height of 20 meters from the crater. Until now, the Dome of Lava is slowly growing to a height of 200 meters and extends to the southwest side of the crater lake area.
