Reporters who waited outside the Special Chamber were requested to leave and also told that Sipitang MP Yamani Hafez Musa did not want to hold a press conference after the swearing-in.
Hafez was sworn in today, eight months after the 14th general election, just nine days shy of the Jan 16 deadline.
Before today, he was the only MP in the 222-seat Dewan Rakyat who had not taken up his oath of office.
It was previously reported that Hafez was in the United Kingdom shortly after the May 9 general election.
Several reporters, unhappy at not being allowed to speak to Yamani, later went to seek clarification. They were told by an officer to speak to Dewan Rakyat secretary Roosme Hamzah.
