Umno leader Nazri Abdul Aziz has claimed that party deputy president Mohamad Hasan is eyeing the position of prime minister - after the latter called for the 15th general election to be held without waiting any longer.

Nazri reportedly said that Mohamad was only thinking of himself when making the call, as the Umno deputy president is the next in line to be considered as the prime minister if BN wins the general election.

This comes as Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is facing a slew of criminal charges in court, which hinders him from being a prime minister candidate.
