The days of kickin’ it with Disney Channel stars are long gone for Olivia Holt because these days, she’s hanging out a new crowd.
Olivia Holt is saying goodbye to Disney Channel and hellooo to Freeform and Marvel.
After being in the works for five long years, Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger has finally found the perfect actors to take on the lead roles of Tandy and Tyrone. Deadline’s exclusive report revealed that former Disney Channel star Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph will be starring in the series live-action drama as Tandy and Tyrone, respectively.
For those who aren’t well versed in the story of Cloak & Dagger, it follows an interracial romance between Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, who both come from extremely different backgrounds, each with a secret to hide. Tandy has the ability to emit light daggers while Tyrone can engulf others in darkness, once these two meet; they quickly learn that they’re better together than apart.
Cloak & Dagger’s showrunner Joe Pokaski expressed his excitement over casting Olivia and Aubrey by saying QUOTE, “The characters of Tandy and Tyrone have always stood out to me ever since I first met them in the pages of Marvel comics when I was a boy. When Olivia and Aubrey read for the roles, these characters leapt off the page. We’re so excited to see what these talented young actors bring to the Marvel Universe.”
While executive producer and Marvel’s head of Television, Jeph Loeb said QUOTE, “Marvel is delighted to have found our ‘Cloak & Dagger.’ Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph encompass the true essence of the characters and we are excited for the audience to see them in these roles.
