PAS has called on Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down if Pakatan Harapan and BN “fail” in the upcoming state elections.

While the Islamist party’s information chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin did not define the meaning of “fail” (tersungkur), his statement came after Zahid challenged Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin to use the state polls as a platform to gauge the people’s support.

PAS is confident that the turmoil within Harapan-BN, as well as the apparent weakness of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration, will be ‘punished’ by the people in the state elections, he said.
