Okay, everyone! So, if you’ve been following Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande’s relationship closely, you probably know alllll about the photo he shared of Ari wearing his late father’s FDNY badge around her neck on Saturday. Well, to give you some background, Pete’s father was a New York City firefighter who died in the attacks on 9/11, so understandably, the necklace holds a special place in his heart.
Unfortunately, when Pete shared the photo it raised more than a few eyebrows. Why? Because it appeared to be the same necklace he gave to his ex, Cazzie David, around five months before they split. Despite what it looked like, though, Pete reassured the haters that the necklace he gave Cazzie back when they were dating was actually not the same one he recently gave to Ari.
When several fans called him out on re-gifting the necklace, Pete explained on Twitter that the one he gave Cazzie was a replica, whereas the one he gave Ariana was actually the real thing.
He said, QUOTE, “i had a bunch of replicas made. my sister and grandpa also have one. the one that ari has is the one my dad actually died in and the one [he] wore his entire career and the one i’ve worn for 17 years. i’ve actually never taken it off other than for snl or work. so it means a lot of me. hope this helps. please learn to be nicer and not to assume the worst in people. it’s a terrible way to live. much love.”
Well, there ya have it folks! The necklace Pete gave Ariana was actually NOT the same one he gave to Cazzie, but come on… did you really think he would do something like that?! Let us know in the comments below whether or not you were convinced the necklaces were the same! Thanks for watching!
