Twenty defenders of the Malay language, led by Majlis Perundingan Melayu and Gabungan Persatuan Penulis Nasional Malaysia, gathered outside the Putra Mosque in Putrajaya after Friday prayers today, to protest Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng's decision to issue a Chinese language statement.
According to the organisers, the demonstration was backed by 60 NGOs, but only 20 people were there.
Things got slightly heated when a reporter sought clarification from the demonstrators over their message.
