At a forum organised by Hindraf on Wednesday night, things got tense after a participant stood up and called Dr Mahathir Mohamad the father of Maika Holdings.
Maika Holdings was a brainchild of long time president S Samy Vellu, it established in 1982 purportedly to enable Indian Malaysians to have a share in the country's economic growth.
The company raised RM106 million in 1984 from 66,000 investors but some shareholders after seeing little returns on their investments have since accused the company of squandering the capital through dubious channels.
In a separate story, Terengganu recently spent RM3 million to acquire an amphibious bus. Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman wanted a test drive, so he drove it into the Terengganu river yesterday.
Unfortunately for him, he had to be rescued after getting stranded in the middle of the river.
