Fifty years ago, the proclamation of independence of Singapore was read by the late radio anchor Steven Lee over Radio Singapore. Lee did that on behalf the late Singaporean founding father Lee Kuan Yew. To make up for this, Kuan Yew agreed in 2012 to a recording of him reading the proclamation.
