Umno Supreme Council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi has blasted the party's former secretary-general, Annuar Musa, for rejecting calls for the general election to be expedited because he thinks the current government was in a stable situation.

"Everyone, including foreign investors, knows that the central government today is one with a weak majority. It can be threatened, tied up, oppressed, disrespected and abandoned at any time."

Puad said that Annuar, who is also the communications and multimedia minister, should not underestimate the wisdom of the people in opting for a stable government.
