In an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais on Oct 7, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said he would not rule out using the constitutional powers to remove Catalonia's autonomous status if the region claimed independence. Rajoy, who has been under tremendous following an independence referendum on Oct 1, said Spain would remain as a country.
