I remember I bought my Traxxas Spartan in 2014 from my local hobby store.. & have not looked back! I have upgraded my boat motor, fins, stabilizer tabs, prop and rudder from "RCBoatBitz" several years ago.Although, i am still rocking the Stock ESC! Today I am running my spartan on 6s Lipo power (22.2v) and I must say this boat is still as cool as the first time I captained it. For my aerial footage I am using a DJI Phantom 4. I purchased the unit from a local hobby store in town about two years ago. It is a very capable camera, and takes great shots.. thankfully in 60p HD!
I used 4 cameras to create this film. Two Sony Camera's, the DJI Phantom & a GoPro Session 4. The filming day lasted 5 hours, and two battery cycles for the boat. I am using two 5000 mah Lipo Batteries for the boat.
The spartan is very fast - and just SCREAMS through the water. I find it is a great boat for short bursts of insane speed - but if you wanted sustainment - at speed - you need a very high discharge lipo battery. I would suggest a minimum 90c discharge to 120c
A lot of viewers ask me where they can get the RC I feature in my show - so here is an amazon link:
Here is a link to the batteries I am using:
