Rihanna’s highly anticipated Savage x Fenty fashion show is now available to stream on Amazon Prime and it did NOT disappoint. All I’ve gotta say is Victoria’s Secret WHO?!
What’s up? It’s Emile Ennis Jr. here with Clevver News and we are FINALLY able to watch Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty fashion show and I will honestly never be the same.
Unlike other lingerie fashion shows like *achem* Victoria’s Secret, the 50 minute special showcased fashion, music, dance, diversity, and inclusivity.
And we all know the VS Fashion Show isn’t happening this year.
This is likely due to the backlash the brand has faced year after year for not using trans or plus size models.
But Rihanna has the complete opposite approach when it comes to selling her lingerie.
In the special, while reviewing potential models for the show, Rihanna made it VERY clear that diversity and inclusivity were key, saying that quote "every woman deserves to feel sexy."
She also said quote, “I'm looking for unique characteristics in people that aren't usually highlighted in the world of fashion.”
And BOOOOY did Rihanna follow through.
Pretty much everyone watching can see some version of themselves represented in this runway show.
There were women of all shapes, sizes, and colors.
But this isn’t the first time Rihanna has spoken about how important inclusivity is in her brand.
She recently told Entertainment Tonight about how important it is for her to make products for every body type. She said that quote, “It makes me feel like now we can not neglect those consumers. That consumer is one that's been neglected before and I'm not gonna let that happen here.”
And she certainly didn’t. The internet is living for every single part of this show.
One person tweeted quote, “Damn Rihanna said nobody getting left behind! The diversity in that show was very real
#SAVAGEXFENTYSHOW”
And another said quote, “The power of diversity. THANK YOU RIHANNA, WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU. #SavageXFentyShow @rihanna”
And finally someone said what we’re all thinking, “Rihanna really went from walking on the Victoria's Secret show to creating her own lingerie show with bodies of all shapes, sizes and colors. A MOGUL. #SAVAGEXFENTYSHOW”
We love an upgrade!
And I have to mention, it doesn’t seem like the Victoria’s Secret angels are missing the VS fashion show too much, because many of them just slayed RiRi’s Savage X Fenty show.
Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Joan Smalls, and Cara Delevingne are all former VS angels who have gone savage, for lack of a better word.
Along with the fashion show, we got a behind-the-scenes look at how they pulled the show together in just 10 weeks. We saw everything from choreography to the design process and everything in between.
The musical performances were also epic.
Unlike the Victoria’s Secret fashion show where the musical performers awkwardly walk up and down the runway with the angels, in Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty show, the performers were a part of the experience.
The models and dancers were incorporated intentionally around the artists like Halsey, Migos, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Big Sean, and so many more.
The dancing was truly unforgettable and left me with goosebumps throughout the entire special.
But one person in particular stole the show for me. Even though she didn’t sing, Normani brought down the house with her dance moves.
Our girl modeled a printed bra, underwear, matching gloves, and black tights, but instead of just doing a typical runway strut, she delivered the fiercest dance performance I’ve ever seen.
And the internet is living for it.
One person tweeted quote, “Normani is amazing. Girl bodied that performance, it was so grown and sexy. It's only right that you know Normani's name is synonymous with excellence. You slayed that #SAVAGEXFENTYSHOW. I'm so proud of you.”
And another shared the video of Normani KILLING it and said quote, “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again -
