The road from Keningau town to the entrance of Maliau Basin was used to be a dusty and muddy gravel road, and a 4-Wheel Drive is almost a must to survive the bumpy road trip.
Now this road is sealed and highly accessible even by sedan. However, you have to stay vigilant, as there are potholes and uneven surfaces on this asphalt road occasionally. This video is a few snapshots of the road condition.
