Brace yourselves Shawn Mendes fans, the singer just released a dreamy John Mayer cover and it’s sure to make your heart break.
Although we all desperately need a Shawn Mendes and John Mayer collaboration in our lives, Shawn’s latest cover will do for now.
Shawn has always been a huge fan of John Mayer and his latest Instagram video was definitely a testimony to how much he idolizes the ‘Gravity’ singer. In the minute-long video, Shawn is seen singing along to John’s song ‘Dreaming With a Broken Heart’ aka his QUOTE, “favourite lyrics of all time.” Get ready to have your heart broken.
I’m sure Shawn’s musical hero would’ve been super proud of that cover. On top of sharing a brief cover of ‘Dreaming with a Broken Heart,’ the singer also posted a video of himself singing a new, never-heard-before song and it goes a little something like this.
Shawn explained the video by writing QUOTE, “This is the song writing process for me. Some chords, melodies and random words that make no sense put together for a while until you find what you want to say from within the music.”
I know his album Illuminate just came out, but I’m gonna need more new music from Shawn.
