Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad's wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Ali, was requested not to attend a book award ceremony at Hotel Seri Pacific in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon said Bersatu lawyer Mohd Haniff Khatri.
He said on April 24 the National Book Development Foundation chose Siti Hasmah's autobiography titled 'Nama Saya Hasmah' as the best in the category.
However he said that he found out from an aide of Siti Hasmah that she had received a call to inform Siti Hasmah to not attend the ceremony.
