统民党麻坡国会议员赛沙迪不满，销售与服务税从6%增至8%，他进而质问，销售与服务税（SST）是消费税（GST）的面具？

赛沙迪在政府提呈财案后炮轰，“为什么我说，这是戴着SST面具的GST？过去（希盟）誓死坚拒GST造成80亿至90亿赤字。但如果落实SST，不如GST税金这么多，因为他们不要征GST。他们就加征SST，GST就能伪装成（SST）了。”

“因为现在很明显地，或许他们那80亿至90亿赤字，能从这加征2%的SST补回来。”
