Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has stressed that the palace will remain impartial in the coming 14th general election.
In a statement sent on the ruler's behalf by his private secretary Mohamad Munir Bani, Sultan Sharafuddin said he and the palace will not interfere in the political affairs of the state or country, and will not side with any political parties.
"His Royal Highness (HRH) wishes to stress that HRH and the Selangor palace will always remain neutral and will not side with any political parties in the country. HRH has no part in any political contest and will not interfere in any political affairs, be it at the state or national stage.
"HRH also stresses that his role as king stands above politics and should not be seen to support any political parties," the statement read.
