Sarawak Chief Minister Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan reportedly said he would pay a compound for failing to wear a facemask in public, saying that he had forgotten to put his mask back on while rushing off after a meal.
This came after a video showing him walking past a row of food and beverage stalls without a mask had gone viral on social media platforms.
According to Borneo Post today, police have contacted him about issue and informed that he will be issued a compound, which he intends to pay. The incident reportedly occurred during his visit to Matu.
As for the money handed to traders, he said it is to pay for purchases that his special officer would collect later as he was in a rush.
