Opposition MPs continued to give 26-year-old Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman a hard time for being the youngest minister, with Khairy Jamaluddin interjecting during Syed Saddiq's winding-up speech to list 'lessons' for the minister over several statements from the ministry.
Khairy (BN-Rembau) had taken issue with a statement issued by Syed Saddiq's deputy Sim Chee Keong about the Youth and Sports Ministry’s conduct during the BN administration, including its controversial tender process and an RM100 million graft scandal that was later revised to RM38 million.
He also defended the practice of direct negotiations and limited tender during his time as the youth and sports minister, stressing that these were approved by the Finance Ministry and went through a filtering process and added that open tender did not always yield the best results.
Responding to Khairy, Syed Saddiq proceeded to list out a number of tenders which had ended up in the hands of Umno leaders.
However, Syed Saddiq said this was not solely Khairy's problem.
