[KiniNews] Muda’s Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman has stepped down as party president after being found guilty in a RM1.12 million misappropriation case.

The party’s deputy president Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz will now be Muda’s acting president.

Earlier today, Syed Saddiq was sentenced to seven years in jail, two strokes of the rotan and slapped with a RM10 million fine.

This comes after the Kuala Lumpur High Court found him guilty of four charges involving criminal breach of trust (CBT), misappropriation of property and money laundering linked to RM1.12 million of Bersatu youth funds.

The court allowed the defence's application to stay the execution of all the sentences pending Syed Saddiq's appeal to the Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has claimed that there are concerted efforts to weaken Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional by bribing and threatening their lawmakers.
