Time Magazine released its issue of the 100 Most Influential People and we’ve got ourselves some fierce females who snagged a much deserved spot on the list.
It’s important to mention that the cover of this issue of Time Magazine is split between Kanye West and Bradley Cooper, but we want to focus ont two especially influential ladies on the list.
First up, the list of influential people wouldn’t be complete without a “Blank Space” for Taylor Swift’s name to be included. She has no doubt changed the game of music by taking chances, using her own experiences to write songs and keeping a positive image while doing so. In this issue, one of Taylor’s #1 fans, Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson in Law and Order: SVU, also being the name of her cat, wrote a touching piece on Taylor. She said, QUOTE, “I’m always trying to find the best words to talk to my kids (and myself) about growing up, but you can’t top her beautifully articulated advice. The haters are gonna hate, but, well, shake it off. She illuminates our inner music that lets us dance to our own beat. Also, it doesn’t hurt that she named her cat after me.” And guys, this is only the beginning for Taylor!
Next up, she’s inspired millions of women for her bold take on feminism (and it’s only fitting that her outwardly feminist movie character, Hermoine Granger, would totally sit front row on any of her speeches). Yeah we’re talking about miss Emma Watson. Emma embraces feminism, which she defines as “the theory of political, economic and social equality of the sexes.” And yes, that definition is male friendly, as well. What’s great about Emma is that she openly invites men to join the fight for gender equality, as she did in launching the U.N. effort last fall, telling the men that it’s “your issue too.”
And although Emma’s speeches have been the cause of multiple blackmail threats, there is no stopping her. In fact, her confident and collected reaction backfired on the haters. She revealed, QUOTE, “If they were trying to put me off, they did the opposite.” GIRL POWER.
