From slaying the Grammys to finally surprising us with new music, Taylor Swift had another sweet year.
Taylor turns 27 today, so we’re taking a look back at her 26th year of life and, no surprise, it was seriously epic.
Let’s rewind all the way back to February 2016. Taylor attended the Grammys with her BFF Selena Gomez and owned the red carpet. She debuted a brand new, shorter haircut with bangs while rocking a gorgeous two-piece gown.
Taylor ended up taking home three Grammys in 2016 including the night’s biggest honor, Album of the Year. This made her a ten-time Grammy winner and the only female artist in history to win Album of the Year twice.
That same month, Taylor was the maid of honor in her childhood best friend Britany Maack’s wedding. Our girl danced the night away and gave a moving speech at the reception.
Taylor hit us with two new hairstyles this year. She sported a bleached blonde bob while attending her first Coachella and as the chair of the Met Gala in 2016. She complemented her edgy locks with a flawless, funky metallic dress on the red carpet.
Taylor left us Swifties in a music drought for most of 2016, but she did write two songs for other artists. She co-wrote “This Is What You Came For” with Calvin Harris and wrote country song “Better Man” for the band Little Big Town. Before we even knew Taylor wrote the track, critics called “Better Man” one of the best country songs of 2016.
During October, Taylor graced us with her only concert of 2016 at the Formula One Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. She performed all her iconic hits and even treated fans to her first live performance of “This Is What You Came For,” delivering a stripped down version of the EDM track on the piano.
And finally, our queen saved 2016 when she finally released ORIGINAL MUSIC in December. Tay dropped a collab song with Zayn titled “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack just last week. We’re still trying to recover from this one.
Needless to say, Taylor had an amazing 26th year, not to mention surprising fans at the Country Music Hall of Fame, all her epic friend gatherings and her numerous charitable donations.
