Taylor Swift traveled back to her country roots last night to present The 2016 CMA’s biggest award for Entertainer of the Year, so talk about a THROWBACK THURSDAY.
Well hey Taylor, welcome back to Nashville… nice to meet you, where you been?
First a surprise Beyoncé performance, a Dolly Parton tribute, and then T-Swift’s shocking return to the CMA Stage after a 3-year hiatus? Is this real life?! The 50th CMA Awards were clearly an unforgettable night to say the least, with all of Country Music’s biggest, most prestigious names who came together in one room.
Taylor Swift was among the many to grace her presence in Nashville last night, making a surprise appearance to present the night’s biggest award, and one which she is no stranger to (TWICE, to be exact), Entertainer of the Year. She began her speech by recalling the time she came to Nashville to pursue her dreams, and CUE the teardrops on our guitar, people:
Dressed to the nines in a sexy black and nude cutout gown, Taylor went on to express how honored she was for being a part of such an unforgettable evening, until it was time to announce the winner, when legendary recording artist Garth Brooks took home this year’s CMA for entertainer of the year.
And on top of presenting, Taylor also celebrated yet another one of her own achievements last night. Country music’s favorite foursome Little Big Town performed their most recent chart-topping single, “Better Man”, which was revealed earlier this week to be written by Taylor herself.
Taylor took to her socials to express her excitement for the band when the single skyrocketed to #1 on the country charts. She screenshotted a photo of the song, tweeting, “Hi #1 @littlebigtown”, and also Instagrammed a photo of the five of them backstage following their performance, writing, “Congratulations on CMA Vocal Group of the Year and the #1 song on iTunes @littlebigtown”.
