Former Batu MP Tian Chua is contesting as an independent candidate.
The former PKR vice president will be facing his party’s own pick for the seat P Prabakaran, who won Batu in the 2018 general election.
The contest for Batu is expected to witness a multi-cornered fight.
Although not PKR’s choice, Chua says he is still with PKR in spirit and wants to ensure that the seat does not fall into the hands of “kleptocrats”.
