True Detective Season 2 Casts Colin Farrell & Vince Vaughn

Move over Matthew and Woody – there are some new sheriffs in town! Er, we mean detectives.
After MONTHS and MONTHS of speculation, HBO is finally confirming that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will take the lead roles in season two of True Detective. Though Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson both received praise for their roles during the show’s first season, this is an anthology series, so everything will be different for the upcoming sophomore season.
Now, what can we expect from Colin and Vince for the second ‘go round? The official logline from HBO says this. “Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder."
Colin will play a character named Ray Velcoro who is a "compromised detective" torn between a corrupt police department and a mobster who quote “owns him.” As for Vince? He’s playing a career criminal named Frank Semyon who is trying to go legit but his empire is rocked by the death of his business partner.
Color us intrigued! No word yet on the rest of the cast, though it has been revealed that another one of the leads will be played by a female. Some names that have been thrown into the mix for that include Rachel McAdams and Jessica Biel. Also, Friday Night Lights alum Taylor Kitsch has been rumored for a part, and we would totally be on board if that happened.
Also, the second season will begin production in California this fall, thought there’s no official word on a premiere date right now. The first season premiered in January, so there’s a good chance the eight-episode season could begin airing in early 2015.
