PAS Dewan Ulama has taken the stand that it is compulsory (wajib) for the party to take down the present Pakatan Harapan government.
Its chief Nik Zawawi Salleh said there should be no dispute over the matter and urged PAS members to move forward without hesitation.
"Our party, PAS, to face Harapan is compulsory. To take down the present government, is compulsory," he said to cries of the takbir.
"Let us not have disputes over this...there is no dispute. We move forward, lets not stop to look back," he said in his winding-up speech during the 65th PAS Muktamar held at Sukpa indoor stadium in Kuantan here.
Nik Zawawi said PAS must set a clear target to take-over the federal government rather than be satisfied with its current standing, more so after taking into account current developments in the country.
"If we are slow, we will be left out. If we are not capable, we will be challenged by others," said Zawawi.
He also stressed that PAS current cooperations through its Gagasan Sejahtera pact and newly upgraded ties with Umno were forged in the name of Islam to ensure lasting peace in the country.
Delegates at the PAS central muktamar yesterday unanimously passed a motion tabled by the Dewan Ulama for PAS and Umno to upgrade and formalise their political cooperation.
The tahaluf siyasi pact similar to PAS' previous alliance with PKR and DAP will allow the party to impose certain guidelines on its new partners in Umno and BN, unlike the taawun siyasi arrangement adopted since after last year's 14the general elections.
