Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan expressed regret over the two charges of soliciting and accepting RM6.9 million in bribes against him, saying the charges should not have been filed.

"Alhamdulillah, the (prosecution) process is finished today.

"I have pleaded not guilty and asked for a hearing and I am confident that the court process can prove that no offence was committed," the Tasek Gelugor MP told reporters after paying his bail at the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex today.

Commenting further, Wan Saiful, 48, said he regretted the government's actions, which he deemed to be selective prosecution aimed at diverting attention from the failure of the unity government.
