The government does not regulate base fares set by e-hailing operators (EHO), said Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong.
He said this following an engagement session by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) with EHOs on their recent price surge.
He added that drop in the number of drivers, an increase in the demand for e-hailing services and traffic congestion after the country transitioned to the endemic phase are among the main factors which led to a surge in e-hailing fares recently.
