Whole Foods Is Now Selling AVOCADO Ice Cream

Whole foods now sells a dairy-free AVOCADO based ice cream!
You know what they say, Millennials are obsessed with avocados, and now there’s a company that makes its dairy-free ice cream out of them!
Cado is a brand new ice cream line that is entirely soy-free, vegan, gluten-free, and nondairy avocado-based ice cream!
According to the company’s website, Cado is the first avocado-based ice cream that QUOTE, “tastes like real ice cream.”
So even if you’re not a fan of the taste of avocado, apparently this ice cream doesn’t really have any trace of avocado flavor!
Currently the brand offers three flavors: Deep Dark Chocolate, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Lemon Sorbet.
The base of each ice cream is made by pureeing ripened avocados, and when the base is complete, other organic ingredients are added to create the different flavors.
Cado’s co-founder Meghan Dowd revealed to refinery 29 that despite not adding a complex mix of ingredients, most people are surprised to learn the ice cream is made from avocados.
Dowd said QUOTE, "We love that when people try Cado, they have no idea it's made from avocados,"
Meghan went on explain just how they came up with the idea of making ice cream out of avocados saying QUOTE, "Avocados, because of the quality of the fat and creaminess, had found their way into our smoothies and pies, and so using them to craft ice cream was a natural next step,"
She went on to say QUOTE, “When crafting our first batches of what would become Cado, we had a light bulb moment. The avocado-base offers more nutrition and a superior fat, doesn't compete with the flavor, has a really creamy quality, just like ice cream... Everybody should be eating this, we thought! It was a great marriage of two things we loved: ice cream and avocados."
The brand plans on expanding their flavor range in the future with combinations like Cherry Amaretto, Java Chip, Vanilla, and Salted Caramel!
And while avocado ice cream isn’t exactly a brand new invention per say, it is pretty exciting that it’s becoming readily available in grocery stores nationwide such as Whole Foods, and is no longer a treat that can only be found at upscale ice cream shops!
