Why Karlie Kloss DITCHED Victoria's Secret Modeling Gig!

Karlie Kloss became a household name because of her time as a Victoria's Secret Angel, but she hung up those famous angel wings in 2015 and NOW the reason why has surfaced!
What’s up guys? It’s Drew Dorsey here with Clevver News and when Karlie left Victoria Secret in 2015, the official reason was due to scheduling. She was a student at NYU at the time, but now a different reason for saying ‘goodbye’ to the lingerie conglomerate has come to light!

When Karlie’s departure from Victoria Secret was announced, Ed Razek, the man behind all the VS fashion shows, attributed the decision to Karlie not having enough time to do the job with her other commitments.

He said quote, “As we talked, it became clear she would not have the time to fulfill her myriad commitments. Reluctantly, we agreed she would leave the brand at the end of her contract. Karlie is one of a kind, a very close friend, someone I truly admire and love.”

But I always say, scheduling is never legit. Whenever I hear a celeb say they either quit or broke up for scheduling reasons, I look at Ryan Seacreast.

If Ryan has time to host a radio show in LA, be on TV in New York, cover a red carpet, and host American Idol all in one day, celebs should have no trouble managing a busy schedule.

I digress…. back to Karlie.

And it turns out, that wasn’t Karlie’s real reason for leaving after all. There was something deeper going on. Duh.

According to Elle Magazine, Karlie left Victoria Secret because the brand’s portrayal of women did not align with her views! Its portrayal of women didn’t match her own feminist values.

While her official Victoria Secret contract ended in 2015, she did walk the VS fashion show in 2017, and hasn’t really been associated with the brand since.

And in a recent interview with British Vogue, Karlie revealed that she started studying feminist theory at NYU and that led to her decision to quit what was one of her most well-paid contracts at that time.

She said quote, “The reason I decided to stop working with Victoria’s Secret was I didn’t feel it was an image that was truly reflective of who I am and the kind of message I want to send to young women around the world about what it means to be beautiful. I think that was a pivotal moment in me stepping into my power as a feminist, being able to make my own choices and my own narrative, whether through the companies I choose to work with, or through the image I put out to the world.”

I mean this is the brand that doesn’t use any trans or plus size models on their runway, so I understand why Karlie decided to part ways.

And people are flooding Karlie’s IG comments with support for her over this story.

One person wrote quote, “I’M SO PROUD OF YOU!! You truly deserve this, you’re such an inspiring human and professional, I’m so happy to support you and you career!!! Love you”
And another said quote, “You look beautiful and I'm so proud of you!! Just read the article. I'm so happy you feel like you've finally found your voice. Keep it up.”
