前首相马哈迪认为，我国不能再仰赖外国直接投资来推动经济成长，本地企业反而做专做大，攻占顶尖国际市场，go big做出经济效益规模，才能支撑经济。
他认为，重点是规模要变大，如果我国迈入大型产业、主导市场，大部分酬劳将归于马来西亚。
