1MDB has come forward to claim ownership of the Equanimity superyacht that docked at the Boustead Cruise Centre in Port Klang earlier today.
The billion-ringgit luxury vessel is linked to the scandals surrounding the state investment arm and fugitive Malaysian businessperson Low Taek Jho. It was seized in February by Indonesian authorities in Bali on the application of the US Department of Justice.
According to lawyer Sitpah Selvaratnam, 1MDB claimed ownership of the Equanimity because they believe their money had been misappropriated and used to purchase the vessel.
