Johor police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Kamaruddin Md Din said on Thursday that nearly 6,000 retired police officers statewide have yet to receive awards for their valor and service during times of crisis in Johor.
The state police chief said this after handing out the 'Pingat Jasa Pahlawan' or medal of valor to 273 retired police officers at the Johor Police Headquarters on Thursday (Dec 19).
The medal was to appreciate the retirees who fought against the communists during the Malayan Emergency as well as the Communist insurgency.
